Hi,
This is my first post here. I live in the South Hills, and bought a 1984 R65 over the weekend. My first bike in 30+ years.

I bought it in Ohio, and on the way home, something happened and I lost my turn signals, brake light and horn. I think it's either a ground problem or a fuse. In either case, I'm not really familiar with how to access those parts of the bike, and would really appreciate it if someone from my part of the Burgh might be able to spend some time with me to walk me through it. For example, I'm pretty sure I need to get the tank off, but I'm not exactly sure how to do that, among other things.

I've heard that we have a pretty good community here, so I'm hoping I'll get a response, or even a recommendation for a shop (although I'd prefer to do stuff like this myself).

Thanks,
Fred

A couple of names come to mind, but I don't know their numbers or addresses: Craig Immel--terrific mechanic--used to have a BMW shop, and of course, the fellows in the service department at European Motorcycles of Pittsburgh, on the North side, Rte 19, especially John Rupert. I understand too that Mark Love who lives somewhere on the North side may still work on airheads. Club member Tom Furey in New Kensington might know some folks, as he's an airhead aficionado! And I think 4 Winds' Ed Tatters might be able to provide some help.

Found the fuse box, and found the blown fuse! Still would be interested in resources to help my mechanical skills. Maybe you have maintenance workshops?

The club used to have a 'shack pack' where people would work on their Beemers. It was a regular thing, but that hasn't happened for a number of years now. Though occasionally someone will host a garage day and post it on the net site here, but there's no telling when or if that will happen until it does. :(
