So, I replaced my fuel lines, and in order to access the back of the carbs to remove and replace the lines, I had to remove the plastic connectors that bring air into the carburetors. Now, I'm trying to connect them back up, and I can't seem to get them to attach to both ends. Neither left nor right side. I can get them close, but can't seem to get a good seal, especially at the air box.

This is my first attempt at maintenance on this bike, and would really appreciate it if someone could pass on their tips on how to do this. It was a pretty nice day today, and I might have gone out if I could have gotten the bike back together...

Thanks in advance,
Fred

Fred,
It might help if you included the year and model of your bike. Your best bet would probably be to give Craig Immel (412-759-1726) a call. He is from Greenburg and is said to be one of the best airhead wrenches around.

Fred, in case you're still having trouble.
If you loosen the clamps that attach the carbs to the head, it should give you added wiggle room.

I reconnected everything this afternoon. The secret Craig passed on was to loosen the clamps on the rubber sleeve and slide it down so that it was flush with the end of the plastic tube, then after putting the tube in position over the carb, slide the rubber up onto the tube coming out of the airbox and put the clamps in place. Worked like a charm.
In general, I am looking to learn how to do what I need to in order to take care of the bike.
