Walt Halaja was excited to have witnessed some of the 2023 Iron Butt Rally finishers arriving at the Pittsburgh airport Marriott Friday morning. Here are some of his photos in the SmugMug album. (click on a photo to open all full screen)

Walt and Ralph Meyer completed a documented Saddlesore 1000 (miles in 24 hrs.) in 2006. The highest scoring winner of the Iron Butt rally this year was a Pennsylvanian named Jim Owens. He became the only 3 time winner of this crazy, epic, endurance and strategy challenge!

P.S. The K100 Frankenbike has a SmartCar turbo diesel engine fitted!

Thanks Walt!

As I recall, the Saddlesore was part of the duo getting the Xenia IL post office tag!

Maybe I’m mistaken.

Hi Jay ... your not mistaken, Xenia IL. was our turnaround & we did get that post office & we also got Zanesville, OH. post office too! ... getting those took a chunk of time ... Ralph was a good leader & we still managed to get 1,150 miles ... Walt :)
