thanks to Tim & Diane for giving me the contact info for Chris at Short Tronics who resurrected my Zumo 550 from the dead to a fully functional GPS for about $75!!! when Garmin told me it was a lost cause. Can you say buy another for big bux?
The Zumo quit responding to any touch input. When I explained how it started first just bouncing, my technical description, from screen to screen by itself, sometimes selecting its own "favorite places" and periodically not responding to absolutely no response at all...in effect it was an expensive doorstop. That's how I described it to Chris who responded to my email in about an hour!!! He said he knew exactly what it was and mentioned some technical jargon that did not stick with me. He told me to mail it to him and he could fix it. He told me how to mail it the most inexpensive way and told me to enclose a check for the amount + return shipping. He had it back to me in about a week!!! I used it this past week in KY and it works great. Absolutely no problems.
