Hi everyone,

I am planning a motorcycle trip around Cuba in January. I don't know what will happen, but I don't know if this opportunity will be available after next month, so I thought it was worth doing. I think it will be memorable regardless if nothing changes, since going to Cuba is so new. Also, winter in Pittsburgh is worth getting away from. All travel to Cuba requires a lot of supervision, so I can't freelance. I have found 3 companies that offer guided rides. One is Edelweiss. The other two seem more Harley oriented, including one led by Che Guevara's son, who has a 1950's Harley.

Here are the links:

Does anyone have experience in this kind of travel, and can you give me advice? Also, If anyone might be interested in going on a trip like this, let me know. I plan on booking this trip in the next week or so. If you have any other companies to recommend let me know.

I am trying to balance riding with interacting with locals and getting to know people who live in Cuba. I don't speak Spanish, but I like to explore other cultures.

Thanks,
Bruce

Hi Bruce,
The guides and the company you choose to go with can make it or break it or be the difference between average and unforgettable. Like you, we enjoy interacting with locals in their culture also.

Call down to Bob's BMW in Jessup, MD - they can tell you how their trip was in 2014.

Bob's BMW dealership write up on their tour in 2014
"Bob’s BMW partnered with MotoDiscovery to create a 12-day motorcycle adventure through Cuba, an exclusive opportunity to explore a country rarely visited by outsiders…at least not legally. The tour will be led by Christopher Baker, a Cuba travel expert and award-winning author."

Christopher P. Baker cuba tours looks like cream of the crop. Can't imagine a better expert guide! He has tours coming up soon with openings.

About Christopher Baker bio

Article in Rider magazine about Moto Discovery tour.

From your list, Edelweiss would be the most touristy, the others have more roots in the country and culture.

I do have a few folks in mind who may be interested but don't frequent the Forum here. I'll privately email them and you about it.
