I wouldn't call the responses negative... more like positive suggestions for a more inclusive show.. :)

I would also have to agree with both John and Ralph ... I don't see anything negative being written at all. The comments I read (and re-read) were ideas that would include many more BIKES and RIDERS! The point of having a rally or a gathering is to include the majority and not just the minority. Is that negative? I certainly don't think so ...

BTW - I'm traveling over 1,000 miles to attend this rally so yes I am looking forward to participating and visiting!

Looks like nobody's paying attention to the clear majority of positive complaints about the very limited cutoff dates as to what constitutes a classic bike as the gizadeech about the rally that came in the e-mail still claimed they're intending NOT to change the dates on this fooberated bike show that cuts out a number of classic bikes of later, but not modern form...there were STILL a lot of airheads produced until 1995, but the creators of this 'bike show' apparently are unaware of this fact. Tch, tch, tch. :pinch:

This is a CLASSIC or ANTIQUE bike show. We have not had a bike show in recent memory. The goal was to keep it small and under control. It's just a place to start. Mark is the chairman and we are going with the plan. The program is printed and award plaques have already been purchased. Mark has done a good job pulling this together. We would be happy to discuss changes for next year.

I’ll start my response with a statement since there seems to be some pretty thin skin within the group, at least on a small scale. I’ve received a few emails and texts supporting what I already said days ago … for whatever reason these members aren’t comfortable stating their own opinions. Maybe the reason they aren’t comfortable is they feel EXCLUDED? I’m only speaking for myself and I’m not trying to hurt anybody’s feelings!

The below statement are MY thoughts and MY thoughts alone. The statement below is not intended to hurt anybody’s feelings (just want this clear). The statements below are MY opinions based on years and years of experience as a motorcyclist and I also have been involved of my fair share of leadership roles in the motorcycle club scene and major motorcycle organizations. I’ll try to be as clear as possible …

By selecting a year range for your CLASSIC/ANTIQUE Bike Show you are in fact EXCLUDING the majority of riders that will be in attendance. I would like to believe that was not the goal of you or Mark. Maybe Mark as chairman and you as president didn’t consider this FACT (remember, no hurt feelings). Maybe it’s because there has been “no bike show in recent memory” so there is nothing to “copy”? Maybe it’s just from lack of experience? I volunteered my help months ago at the last meeting I attended. I also spoke to you privately telling you I would be happy to help in any capacity needed, there was never further contact. I’m glad that “we would be happy to discuss changes for next year” …

I just hope the people that have been and are being excluded decide to participate in those changes.

I wasn't going to post a reply but that's not my nature. Again no hurt feelings (did I say that enough times). I will be at the rally and I'd be happy to buy you a coffee and sit down and talk in person. I'd be happy to buy you a coffee before the rally if you like?

I would like to thank Mark Loesch for his efforts in putting together the 1st. ( since I've been a member 16 yrs or so ) Four Winds Bike Show. Mark is a relatively new member but has been to a lot of our rallies over the years and has stepped up to help the 50th rally be something a little more special. Mark has some really cool bikes that he restored himself. He also goes to a lot of bike shows which he participates in and has an understanding of how they function. Mark is a guy that gets the job done and doesn't just talk about it. I'm glad he volunteered to be on our rally committee this year and put hours of his time into it.
